About meI am age 25 and currently live in Michigan. I am employed as a ski jumping coach for the Ishpeming Ski Club, one of the oldest continuing ski clubs in the U.S. As long as I can remember I have had an affinity towards the sea. I have a very adventurous nature and I love history, anthropology, archaeology and exploration. Anyone with suggestions, please drop me a message. I am very friendly and enjoy talking to all types of people on many different topics. Anyone looking to shoot the breeze need only start a conversation with me.

About my libraryMost of my books are nautical/maritime non-fiction. I also read alot about ancient history and ancient civilizations. Most of the fiction I read is by Kurt Vonnegut the rest is maritime based. I also enjoy a few books outside these realms, but don't deviate too often.

Actually, it wasn't my grandfather, but my Uncle Matt. In the book The American on the Endurance, he wrote a short essay at the end of his time with Bakewell. He doesn't talk much to me about it, the only things I know is what my dad told me about him, but he doesn't remember much.

It's great to know a person that nautical and maritime non-ficiton so much! It's a vastly underrated genre, and me coming from the big ship port of Sturgeon Bay, I'm submersed in it nearly every day.

Thanks!

Ray, Just for the love of the sea you should try reading the works of Patrick O'Brian. There's a lot of good history in his books too. "Master and Commander" is the 1st of about 20 great books taking place at the beginning of the 19th Century. Enjoy.
