About meI am a Protestant minister, ordained both as a Baptist (Cooperative Baptist Fellowship) and in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). I have served both Disciples and Baptist churches in Virginia. I am currently the Senior Minister at a Disciples of Christ congregation in Eastern North Carolina. I have just begun pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree.

About my libraryMy library includes about 7000 books. I am still in the process of adding them all to library thing. It includes a large collection of books on Fundamentalism, Evangelicalism, Systematic Theology, Baptist history and theology, Stone-Campbell tradition (Restoration studies), Eschatology, Appalachian religion, Southern religion, and Anglicanism. One of my interests is acquiring the personal libraries of professors and other intellectuals. I have acquired large portions of the personal libraries of three important Baptist theologians - James Tull, Dale Moody, and Morris Ashcraft. I also have a large collection from the personal library of Jeffrey Hadden who taught religion and sociology at the University of Virginia; a large collection from the personal library of United Church Christ New Testament scholar Freeman Sleeper who taught at Roanoke College and Union Theological Seminary; and a collection from the personal library of Baptist Old Testament scholar Hugh Tobias.

Recently, I have acquired a portion of the library of Richard Harrison, a church historian in the Disciples of Christ tradition who focused on the Reformation; and a portion of the library of Samuel T. Francis, an ultra-conservative commentator and writer who worked for the Heritage Foundation and the Washington Times. Francis was a controversial figure who was characterized as a paleo-conservative. This collection numbers about 255 books and is rich in history, politics, and espionage.

The picture on my profile page is of the library of Charles Spurgeon, who had upwards of 12,000 books. About 7000 of those are now housed at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Kansas City. My interest in building a large personal library (that is mainly theological in nature) began in my early 20s when I started reading about Wilbur M. Smith, who was an original faculty member at Fuller Theological Seminary. His library comprised about 30,000 books, some of which are now at Fuller, and at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, where Smith taught later.

Hi Reece! Great to make your acquaintance. I am enjoying my D. Min track at www.bgu.edu - the global perspective has been awesome for me. I've done a combined MTS and DMIN and have been at it for a while, now down to dissertation time.
