Please forgive me for taking so long to reply to your very welcome message. I am a librarian, and God has blessed me with a job in which I catalog books all day. I love every minute of it.

However, when I get home, having been on a computer all day, I am reluctant to turn mine on at home, and thus I mostly interact with LibraryThing on weekends.

I also apologize for writing to you in English. My French is very rusty, and while I love reading yours to me in that beautiful language, it would take me a very long time to reply in the same.

I was most taken with your statement "books are my passion." They are mine also. I look forward to exploring your library too.

I will certainly check out your groups and look forward to interacting with you there as well as here.

Merci au cousin de la Belle-Province d'avoir ajouté ma bibliothèque à la liste de celles qu'il estime intéressantes!

Je ne dispose malheureusement pas assez de temps pour cataloguer mes livres sur Library, ce que je regrette car cette occupation est vraiment plaisante...Mon travail d'architecte et de graphiste (en Île-de-France et en Normandie) est assez prenant!

Bravo en tout cas pour votre belle et grande bibliothèque, vraiment impressionnante!

Si je continue avec les mots-clé de la même façon que jusque maintenant,je devrais arriver à quelques 200.000 - il est vrai que c'est une quantité insensée! Mon but, comme vous avez déjà deviné j'imagine, ce n'est pas d'arriver en première position sur la page "Zeitgeist" (même si cela donne une présence au sein de la communauté LT), mais de rendre ma bibliothèque accessible, d'abord pour moi-même.
Même si j'ai une assez bonne mémoire, avec les quantités de livres que je possède désormais (en grande majorité non-fiction), il devient quasiment impossible de dire dans quels livres on parle de tel ou tel sujet, si ce n'est pas le sujet principal de ces livres. Evidemment il est impossible de faire des index pour chaque titre, mais j'essaie quandmême d'être relativement complet. Cela va me prendre du temps, du temps... mais j'espère que d'une manière ou d'une autre cela sera utile.
Vous qui avez "manuellement" fait des fiches pour 2000 livres, vous savez ce que c'est. Mais je le répète: je ne trouve pas cela désagréable.
Seulement, le resultat ne sera pas visible avant plusieurs années. Car il y a aussi une vie en dehors de LT - ce que je regrette parfois...

Je suis très flatté par votre invitation que je me suis pressé d'accepter. Pour être honnête, je suis un peu jaloux de constater que vous avez fini - mais en même temps je me rends compte que cataloguer est loin d'être désagréable (même si je dois tout faire "à la main")...

Well, I take it you don't have to share your apartment with too many other living creatures, like children, cats, dogs, rabbits etc, who may have an opinion about where you put up shelves..
I visited flickr and I found a very interesting book cover in your library - Kenya, the first explorers by Nigel Pavitt. You said that you went there in 1985..how did you like it? Exactly where did you go? What did you do? Where did you stay?

je me demandais justement depuis plusieurs années si "la compagnie des glaces" valait le coup? il y a tellement de tomes à acheter... que chaque fois que je suis devant je recule!!! mais ils les ont sortis à plusieurs par volume... ça me prendrait moins de place...
