About me I live in Iowa in an old ramshackle house with my husband, three cats, and a lot of books.
About my library For myself, there is an emphasis on Japan, Japanese language, Japanese history, literature, etc. There are also a lot of history, fantasy, and how-to books. My husband's books are science fiction, fantasy, gaming, and some reference works--they will be the last I add to the list.

I just got wired to LibThing since my sister is addicted. I had only just entered all my books on matters Japanese into a database and so it was very easy for me to upload them to LibThing. Now what? I dug around and posted one message each Japan-related groups. Then a second.
I snooped around on the list of users that have books in common with me. The first three or four had a lot of books in common; 30 or 40. But then they all have libraries in the thousands. So I grabbed a name in the middle of the list and it was someone with no information to make them human.
Then, again at random, your ID came up. Idly I clicked-through to your website. Noted you watch the NHK dramas. We use to watch Asahi home theatre with religious fervor a few years back. Then they got really lame for a while and we forgot. Anyway I noted your reference to a calligraphy thing on YouTube. That lady is a delight. I've only just begun with calligraphy, got a brush and a water-pad like children learn with. Also got a book on it [Sho: Japanese Calligraphy] but have yet to roll up my sleeves with it yet.
Anyway thanks for the link, and thanks for all the myriad tips on Japanese film. My wife and I try to go to Japan and wander around for two weeks each year. I've never gone to see a movie, my Japanese is so abysmal anyway. But you mentioned some Genji/Heike death-match movie that sounds like a riot, whether in good Japanese or bad English.
Thanks for your efforts. People are watching.

You've "outtagged" me with the Japan tag!! I will have to go out and buy some more boooks... LOL. I see you have a lot of manga. I have read a few, but the only one I have really gotten into is Chibi Maruko, which as far as I know has never been translated. And I guess it dates me to mention it. Do you know it?
