About meI'm a decade and more retired from a lifetime - one company - 'career' as a round misfit in a square, technical, hole. "I coulda been somebody ... "
A good father, or at least a father figure, is very important, I've learned; try to have one, even if you have to borrow someone else's.
Living on the Oregon coast now, figure on dying here, but not until I've read more of my library.
Lots of history in my library, also science, great stuff if at the right level. Yet I believe that the biggest boondoggle going these days is the enormous scientific effort directed toward the attainment of useless knowledge, at great cost of resources, mostly public, and of brainpower. For every billion dollars and thousand Ph.D.s wasted on determining the age of the universe, and whether the micro-quark really exists, and such-like, our return is one revised paragraph in a textbook. Which is then reissued at great cost to the publicly supported students doing publicly supported science at our public universities.
Done. Sorry.
About my libraryAfter several lifetime relocations, I finally got all my books out of boxes and onto shelves, only to find I don't have enough room on the shelves, or for more shelves. So I'm culling and selling, on Amazon and Half.com, and a bit on eBay, and the dregs dumped on my bridge club members, which are gobbled up despite.
I don't do fiction much, nor social science, just natural science, and history, and stuff that catches my eye.
