About meBorn in Washington state, and educated in Seattle, on a rainy day I love to curl up with a good book and a double tall soy white chocolate mocha. I have been a book worm ever since I learned to read. I particularily enjoy American, European and Japanese Fiction and Classic Fiction. If a book is written in Spanish or French, I prefer to read it in the original language. Also, I love cats.

About my libraryThe books on my list are books that I either own, or that I have read recently. Borrowed/library books are generally tagged as such. Books on my 'To Read/Re-Read' List may or may not appear here yet. This list is not yet exhaustive.

What's been up with you? Did your third ER book come?
Finished Udolpho, that was pretty addictive! Have you had more time to read lately?
That's pretty sweet! Definitely an appropriate book. Did The Gaming Life ever come? Right now I'm reading The Mysteries of Udolpho, what about you?
Nice! Has the first one come yet?
Still reading the Left Hand of Darkness, also Scenes of Clerical Life by Eliot and Senilita by Italo Svevo. What's HPB?
Sounds good. I'm reading Left Hand of Darkness right now, finished the Devil Wears Prada. We'll have to meet up sometime so I can give it back to you. What else are you reading right now?
I'm going to try to get up there this weekend, but not sure about my work schedule yet. I'll give you a call tomorrow.
That's pretty exciting about the book!! Maybe Marshall will want to read it? I'll have to go look at the summary on the ER page. I'm still reading The Way We Live Now - long book. Also reading your The Devil Wears Prada and the Calvino you gave me, t zero. Did you get the new Fruits Basket?
Reading anything good?
Hey - did you get a book this month? Zilch for me, but I signed up for one of the bonus batch.
Right now I'm reading the book of poems you loaned me, Seize the Day by Saul Bellow and still working on Trollope's The Way We Live Now. Apparently one of his longest books. I'm pretty sure I can come and have cupcakes also.
Yeah, I haven't been signing up the past couple months because been too crazed recently, but the quarter's almost over so trying to read more. Last month was a bad month for finishing things. Are you reading another Trollope now?
Hey - signed up for some of the March Early Reviewer books, there were a ton of them. Did you sign up for any of the cooking one?
Hey - reading The Hand of Ethelberta by Hardy, Gogol short stories and The Way We Live Now by Trollope right now. Haven't had as much time lately as usual to read what with TAing and 2 grants for the lab. Crazy. I hadn't seen the status box, I might have to add books I'm in the middle of reading.
Sounds good. Can't wait to read it. What are you reading right now?
Hey - how's the novel editing going?
Ok, I can give you the rest of the Barsetshire series next time I'm at home. Glad someone else likes Trollope!
Did you get a book for this month?
Yeah, I think The Eyre Affair was one of our early ones.
Hey - I hope you get one of the Early Reviewer books this month. Glad you liked The Warden, though I'll have to warn you - later books ballooned in size and have a lot more plot meandering. Finished the Thirteenth Tale, it was a quick read. I'm trying to think of suggestions for the next book, but have been busy with TAing lately. Will have to get on that.
No, not this month. There were a lot that looked good but nothing that really jumped out. Trying to concentrate on the giant pile. Which ones did you pick? Have you started The Thirteenth Tale yet?
Did you sign up for a book this month?
Hey - are you available to do stuff tomorrow? I'll be up north and I think Leann will be coming up.
Finished and reviewed my November Early Reviewer book, The Story of Forgetting. Did you want to borrow it? I posted my review, and there are a lot of other ones already up.
I'm so glad you liked the SantaThing book I picked for you. It was one of my favorite books last year & I hope you like it! Thanks for adding me! :-)
Hey - my Early Reviewer book came today. I'll try to finish it as fast as possible and write a review if you want to borrow it. Don't know if it'll be before the 19th though. We should both def read Foundation and The Left Hand of Darkness, but I don't think it would work for book club - I know Jamie's read Darkness, and Jenelle just isn't really into sci fi.
Yeah, definitely. I was sorry you weren't able to come yesterday, hope you're feeling better. Hopefully I'll be home next weekend, maybe we could do coffee or something then.
I have your Devil Wears Prada - still meaning to get around to it. Finished The Namesake and Sherlock Holmes II though.
I think it also helps to have a lot of modern fiction books, from what I've heard in the Early Reviewer group. You could prob add more, I know you've read a ton more than what's listed in your library.
Got one of the books I requested from the bonus batch - The Story of Forgetting, but Stefan Merrill Block. You can borrow it if you're interested after I read/review it. I think the description's on the ER page.
That's pretty exciting, I guess December can be the novel-editing month?
Did you finish your novel?
Sad that you couldn't come down yesterday! But I'll see you soon. Finished The Namesake, it was good.
Hey. My reading's going a bit slow too right now cause I have finals/project coming up and we're about to send this grant off. I think I'll have to meet with my group sometime this weekend, but would probably be able to get together for coffee/lunch/dinner. I'll know what my schedule will be tomorrow.
Hey - did you get a November Early Reviewer book?
What are you reading now? I have multiple books going right now, but it's just making me crazy
Hey - we ended up seeing Love in the Time of Cholera yesterday (there's a whole story about it, will tell you later) - and not good! not good! I felt like they kept the storyline but took out everything that made the book good
What are you reading right now? Looks like you already finished Making It Up, I'm reading that one currently
Hey - they have some more books on the early reviewer page, I signed up for a couple. Guess it's a special thing from one of the publishers
How's the novel going? I'm helping to write a 27 page paper....but it's just a grant for the lab. Not as exciting.
Hey - saw your review for Gulliver's Travels. Not good - I've been planning to read that one for a while, now it's going further down the list. I can bring Master of the Sea next time I see you - maybe for Jenelle's bday?
Hey. Finished Master of the Sea, but I didn't really like it. Already posted part of my review, still working on more. Think I took too many English/comp lit classes and now must spend too much time comparing everything. I have Garcia Marquez's General in his Labyrinth but haven't read it yet.
It is pretty nice that you can read it in Spanish. Have you read any of his books that aren't in your catalog?
Yeah, Leann told me it was being made into a movie. We should go see it when it's released. But I know Jenelle already read it and didn't like it. Maybe we could do another Garcia Marquez novel for the book club.
Just signed up for the one I wanted most - don't think I'll get one since I got one last month
Did you sign up for some Early Reviewer books already?
Sounds like next month's Early Reviewer books will be posted on Nov 1st. You might want to put up a review or two, that's supposed to help increase the odds.
Ok, I'll have to borrow it. Let me know if you want to borrow anything from mine, though I don't own all the ones that I've cataloged.
Didn't know you read Kokoro, how was it?
You're one of the top members with the same books as me!
