Mystic Seaport's Lofting Manual is a great introduction to lofting if you're going to follow along in the book and actually do it at the same time - it's basically a step by step guide to lofting a very small (~6') boat designed by John Gardner for the express purpose of teaching lofting. For that reason, the lofting is actually a lot more complicated than most small boats would be, since it's made to teach the tough stuff. If you're looking for something to just read along, I'd recommend Greg Rossel's Building Small Boats (I think that's the name of it...). I actually used to teach boatbuilding at Mystic Seaport, so I've used the Lofting Manual as a textbook for the accompanying class many times, and it's ideal for that!
Good luck!

id give up a leg easily to not be in as much pain, and then i could actualy live instead of exisiting.
so i make the best of it reading, and doiong small wood working craft type projects.
i live with my fiance' of 6 years, and she is good to me. we have three kids, either in college,or done with it. they all work, and i dont help them much, firstof all, they are healthy, they can join the mill and get college paid for. second,, i cant afford to help them with their schooling. and it dosent bother me a bit. LOL
we have three dogs we adopted, all muts that needed a home, and two cats we took in for the same reason.
we had closed on our house and about 2 or 3 weeks later,my back blew out. but we make it go as best we can..
NUFF of that stuff............
i enjoy woodworking and small wooden boats of the "work" type. dinghys i guess. i prefer the sailing dinghys.i intend to teach myself to sail in the near future. with any luck,on a small craft i built myself.
reading non-fiction is what i prefer, though once in a long while, some fantasy,or sci-fi stuff fits the bill. just a "brain" break or off duty thing.what i call mindless reading. though mindless or not, reading is a terrific hobby.
my X felt kinda silly always reading romance type books and she mentioned it to me more than once,,,that she felt sorta like she SHOULD be reading something more usefull,. i told her "as long as you read,, your good to go". reading anything is so much better than not reading anything at all. least ways to my thinking anyhow. heck,i taught myself to read better, and spell better, and even word defintions. all because i read after i quit school.
((just because i quit highschool, didnt mean i HAD to stay barelly litterate, and to be honest,,kinda dumb..lol))....[and i still cant spell worth a darn] :-@
i read physics for a few years,,ummm maybe the early to mid 80s,,that was fine for then,i wish i remember more of it now, even though it has changed quite a bit. when i was reading physics, they didnt think hawking radiation was real, though i thought it had to be,"nothing eats without ..errrr......passing it through" heh heh heh. and its true.!
[[i also think even though science says we cant ever travel faster than the speed of light,,i think we will]]
at present, as a gift i got a scroll saw, that i keep on a large table next to this computer desk. i try to carve, though id rather not show people, thats how bad it is. ill get better . and i cut small pieces of wood, and make things, toys,a small boat, all small stuff tho. keeps me buisy......
so thats me, what i read and do.
