About my libraryBooks
by Ronald A Pavellas

While contemplating the tumbling pile of books
Surrounding the corner where I sleep,
I look inside for the source of greed
That must surely be a name for my obsession.

For what do I search?
Will the quest never end?
Will my thirst ever be slaked, in full, without returning?

The titles, the subjects of my books tell me of my obsession:
the mysterious, the hidden,
the roots of things, of thoughts and concepts,
evidence of the connectedness of all things;
the patterns that govern my life and others';
advice from sages on how to "See", how to "Be;"
to observe how their "seeing" and "being" compares with others'.

Yes, to observe.

I am the observer, the needer-to-know,
For a purpose that seems ever closer to being known.

But, resigned certainty grows that this knowledge
Approaches, nearer, nearer
But never to to be reached, until --

The End

Ah Ha !!!!! You're the only other person I know of who's read "Unto a good Land" !!!! Did you read all the rest of the series or just that one?
I'm INTJ as well, which reminds me of a humorous story. When I was really into the Meyers-Briggs in the early 90's I remember excitedly rushing into the cube of a colleague to discuss my results. This was after our entire group took the test. It was then I realized that he was of a personality type that did not really care that much about discussing personality types.

I hope to get to the level where I can give away books. Right now I'm in the "coveting" stage of personal development.
Your poem above resonates with me deeply. Also thanks for turning me on to pathetic.org. Never heard of it till I read your profile.
Hello, Hola and Hej, Jose--

Thanks for the invitation. After scanning my entries in my library, I realized I hadn't any Herman Hesse, although I have had them/him. I must have lent them to non-returners, or lost them in my many transits. So, I have just ordered the ones I remember the best and will re-read: Magister Ludi, Suddhartha, Steppenwolf. I think I ordered Journey to the East, as well. I am a Watts fan, my main man as it were, and I guess it is. I also collect the pearls of wisdom of others and will share them when I get properly inculcated into your (not so) secret society.

Best wishes,

Ron
