Books212 books cataloged

About methis librarything has got me thinkin deep thoughts, puzzling out conundrums, till I scarcely know where I am, to say nothing of the who. But soon.

About my libraryhmmm...well, it's vaster and much more complicated than all those books resting quietly on the shelf would lead one to believe.

All items entered in my library are works that I've read though not necessarily books that I 'own'.* Eventually I hope to tag items that I own "(books)" and other works with "(works)" and an abbreviation indicating the collections to which they belong. "(works: NLS)" for example designates books read in braille or recorded formats from the National Library Service for the Blind and Physcially Handicapped, a division of the Library of Congress.

Most of the works entered so far belong to my interior library, works that I have left deep impressions in the very core of my being, works returned to in memory and in fact so often that they are always at the top of one's head, cut the deepest grooves in one's grey matter.

My plan is to organize the 200 books I've entered, and only when I am satisfied with my cataloguing system upgrade to a lifetime membership and enter the rest of my holdings.

*I am indebted to the Site FAQs for the invaluable distinction between books and works.

I see you're a Loren Eiseley fan--me too and we share a number of titles. Reading Eiseley is like listening to great music . Glad you like my cd collection and thanks for the comment.!
Cool! Yes, there aren't many of us on the disability group--post away! Would love to hear from you on there! Looking forward to looking through your library!
Thanks for looking up Jeane-Dominique Bauby up for me (Diving Bell/Butterfly), his name totally slipped my mind and I couldn't find the book. Hope your enjoying the group!
