About me24-year-old library technician (serials) living and working in and about DC.
Voracious reader since I was 4 and started teaching myself phonics as I eavesdropped on my mother's Literacy Volunteers students.
Planning to start an MLS in the Fall of 2010, preferably with a focus on archiving and preserving information, which I think is the most interesting part of library work.
When I'm not reading (or even when I am), I'm often found quilting.
About my libraryMy library is rather eclectic and reflects my varied interests. Yet it's not everything I'm interested in, because I sometimes choose not to acquire books I enjoy and I periodically purge so I'll have more space for new books.
If a book is available at most libraries, then I try not to buy it unless I know I'm going to be referring to it often or really like having it around. If it's less available, then I snatch it up when I can get it.
Just because I have a book doesn't mean that I think it's right or the best book ever. It may just mean I found something interesting in it or it was a present I haven't gotten rid of. This is particularly true of the religious books.
