About meI began using LibraryThing in an effort to take stock of my growing book collection. My shelves are pretty organized; and I wanted to log their contents. Now, I can actually keep track of what I've read and plan to read. But LT offers so much more than any spreadsheet or database I could have set up.

I haven't joined a challenge group yet. But I have created a collection for books I plan to read in 2010. Ideally, at the end of the year, the number of books in my 2010 completed collection will equal the number in the plan-to-read collection. We'll see. I love snagging books at library book sales, discount book stores, etc. I've picked up some really good deals and some treasures as well. I especially like vintage cookbooks. I recently came across one published in 1896! It was in very poor condition, though. The cover was missing; and the pages were crumbly. How sad.

About my libraryMy library consists of books covering a wide range of topics. A basic sampling of genres includes African-American History, Literature and some novels; Christianity; Cookbooks; Genealogy; and Scrapbooking. I began reading mostly non-fiction in the early 80's. But, since about 2007, I been reading more fiction.

Don't know if you're interested, but I wanted to let you know that I'll be involved in an "Author Chat" about my novel, The Quickening (on your shelf), beginning next week (the 19th) and lasting through the following Monday. If you're interested, I welcome your questions and comments. Here's the link: www.librarything.com/groups/authorchat

And if you're a Goodreads user, I've started a Q&A group there that will stay open at least until September. The link is www.goodreads.com/group/show/35410.Q_A_with_Michelle_Hoover_author_of_The_Quickening

Hope you're well!

Best,
Michelle
Just a short note (and my only one, I promise) that I've launched my website at www.michellehoover.net. I've also created a page called Michelle Hoover's The Quickening on Facebook. If you're interested in further updates about the book, you can check out the site or join the page. You can also look at my Librarything author page for more info. In any case, I hope you're well and happy reading. And if you have similar news, let me know.

Cheers,
Michelle
