Hi Sally - sorry to have taken so long to reply. Lovely to hear from you - isn't this a wonderful site.

You say we have the same job but you are a real architect - I just carp and tut for a living! I used to be a researcher for Maxwell Hutchinson and had an office at his practice - ah happy days with all those crazy young architects.

I think the Adam Nicholson book is his best(so far), really written from the heart. I envy you sailing in Scottish waters. Being rather afraid of water, I cannot swim therefore do not sail - unless you count being transported around a the Med and the Baltic on a very small cruise ship! Have you read Sea Change by Mairi Hedderwick? Interesting account of sailing around the west of Scotland.

Best wishes
Marianne
