About meAfter too many years of not finding or making time I now make much more time for reading.
I enjoy books that take me to a different time or place but always in the real world - no science fiction or fantasy.
Occasionally I like some light relief with fast plotted mysteries and I have a soft spot for the No.1 Ladies Detective Agency books because their gentle wisdom makes me smile and the pace of life in the books helps me to relax.

About my libraryI pick most of my books up from charity shops so I can afford to be quite adventurous. Prize winners often catch my eye but I don't always enjoy them and if I haven't they won't be listed here. I've always got lots to read (I haven't put any of the books in my to be read piles here!).
I find books faster than I read them and I never get round to re-reading - but I always hang onto my favourites just in case. Please supply recommendations - I may have it waiting in the pile and can bring it to the top!

Hi Scarey, Enjoyed looking at your library and noted down several for future reading!
Cheers

Hi. Thanks for the recommendation. I will have a look for it on Read it Swop it. I quite like Joanne Harris's style, but some of her French books get a bit similar after a while, suspicious locals, incomers etc. Now reading Purple Hibiscus by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, distressing, but fantastic. Happy reading. Carol
Hi. I see we share quite a few books. I've recently read On Chesil Beach too and sort of enjoyed it in a strange way. I've got Arthur and George in my to be read pile and notice you like it. I', currently reading One Good Turn by Kate Atkinson, which is quite a page turner with a complicated construction that I quite like, so long as I can follow it. Good wishes Tifi
Aaaah, another McEwan fan! We share lots of similar books, so I shall be browsing your shelves for new reading ideas.
Oops should have read your comment earlier on in the evening have just started another Alexander McCall Smith when I should obviously be reading Star of the Sea. Well as soon as I know what exactly Bertie thinks of the world I'll pick up Star of the Sea. Thanks for the recommendation.
