It's good to hear that The Last Gentleman has a worthy translator in Handke. Percy would be pleased at the echo of Dostojevksij. And now, I'll want to read something by Handke. Is there a book or English translation that you would recommend to begin with?

And I love the picture of Benedict XVI in shades on your blog! It reminds me of a wonderful photograph of Karol Wojtyla (before he became JP2) standing in front of the Parthenon dressed like a beatnik (I believe it's in George Weigel's biography, which we share).
