About meGosh, where to start? Keywords: nice guy, fundamentally happy, involved with life, community volunteer, writer, nicely educated, employed in AIDS service agency, big-fish-in-little-pond and the Q-words: inquisitive, quirky, and queer.

Current activities include:
1) writing a book on the how, what, when, why and where of men and pissing from points of view of history, psychology, architecture, rites and rituals, social customs, biology and ergonomics. The website is urinesurvey.com for more info.
2) volunteering with abused kids who have been taken from their homes by the court system.
3) editing a video documentary on the history of AIDS activism in Sonoma County, California
4) living on the edge of the continent, straddling the San Andreas fault, within sight and sound of the Pacific.

uninteresting, but perhaps relevant to you, factoids:
B.A.,Grinnell College, M.L.S., UC-Berkeley; co-founder of a magazine for gay men living in the country, short order cook, landscaper, non-native Californian, baseball fan (Oakland A's).

Words to live by: (borrowed from Scoop Nisker): "If you don't like the news, go out and make some of your own."

About my libraryAs a frugal person, I have utilized the public library a lot over the years, so my own collection reflects just a part of my reading interests. Also, I am not a particularly materialistic person, so I swap books and give them away, rather than hold them dusty hostage on a shelf. That said, I really like the books that I do buy and keep tend toward the non-mainstream world, with the exceptions of Gore Vidal and David Sedaris. Favorite authors who are not represented in the collection (because they are in every public library) are Charles Dickens, Edith Wharton, Dorothy Sayers, Elizabeth Peters, and Samuel Pepys. If you browse the collection and see something you like, let me know. We can talk about it.
