About meI'm a 27 year old exiled Scot with a recently completed Masters in Writing with Distinction and hope to one day get my own novel published - however I freely acknowledge that the chances of this happening would be exponentially increased if I stopped playing on library thing and got some writing done.

Recommend me stuff- I love the smell of Amazon in the morning almost as much as I love my cats and procrastination.

About my libraryShe is known as the Book Nazi. Some say that if you dog ear the pages of a book - she can hear it from 5 miles away and her wrath will be a fierce and almighty thing.

I not long finished maneater too, it was a pretty impressive book, completley addictive and stayed up on a work night to finish it. I have just been given Skarlet by a friend, it's going to be added to my immense TBR pile (BTW I love collections) I am hammering through a challenge so may get time at the end of it.
Thanks - Maneater was pretty much an impulse buy for me too, it's good to hear Skarlet is worthwhile, I'll keep an eye out for it.

(they are a dog and a fox cub, and unfortunetly not mine, just a picture pulled from the 'net)
Hi
Your the only user listed with Skarlet by Thomas Emson. Having enjoyed Maneater I thought I'd find out what else he?'s done. Or indeed anything else you know about the author

Thanks

Fox.
Hey Ruadh,

Justine Musk’s Lord of the Bones does follow after Blood Angel. I haven’t read Hunger Games yet, but I hope to soon, the synopsis for it sounds very exciting. I’m also a compulsive book buyer. I have so many new books that I haven’t touched; it gets pretty overwhelming… so, I just end-up re-reading old books that I enjoy.

That’s pretty cool that you wore that Grim Reaper costume on the last day of an ex-job! Your profile picture reminded me of an intro. scene from the Dead like Me television series. I need to buy a black hooded cloak and a scythe ;) And there is nothing wrong with becoming a contract assassin, such a job title would look pretty sweet on a job resume, although contract assassins wouldn’t need a resume to get hired for a job that deals with murder =/
Sorry that its taken me so long to respond to your comment. I only access LT when I'm adding new books that I've bought, and I've been trying to save some cash recently.

Thanks for the explanation. I will cross my fingers then wander around and find some other lovely books to read in the meantime. At least Smith's other books are being re-released. I was unwilling to hunt all nine of them down when I realized they were out of print. The ominbuses are awesome in that regard.

I really love your profile picture! It's my goal to become a grim reaper someday =)
Have you read "Bloodangel" by Justine Musk and a YA series called "Maggie Quinn: Girl vs. Evil" Series by Rosemary Clement-Moore?
I noticed that you have the LJ Smith Book, Strange Fate in your library. I was a Night World Follower for years in the 90s and searched and searched and waited for that book. I tried to follow a link on Amazon.com to see if I could purchase it...but it didn't exist. I was under the impression that Strange Fate had never gotten published...so, if you don't mind me being excruciatingly nosey, how did you get your hands on it?

I am just curious of course and you have every right to tell me to go away...but I will say that I am jealous and would really like a copy for myself.
did you like valiant and Ironside then? Holly Black is back to do another lecture before Christmas, gonna try and sneak in again.
It appears that you read many of the same books I do. Do you have any awesome suggestions that I have not alread read?
Hey, wanted to thank you for your recommendation of 'Bitten'. I own the book but had lost my internet before I got around to adding it, in fact I just recently found this place again... recently as in 30 min ago. Hehe ha...

Anyways I liked it enough to read it through, I still kinda think of it as a waste of money, although I read 'Dime Store Magic'(by the same author) and really loved it. So yeah, thanks for the recommendations.(I haven't heard of the other before, let alone gotten to read it yet)
Thanks for your not-reccommendations about morel and ivy cole and the moon, I had heard they were poo from one of the paranormal reading groups.

Jennine Frost is next on my list to read, I am almost finished on Maria V Snyder's Fire Study, I will let you know what I think when I finish it, at the moment it appears to be a bit predictable.

Marc is definatley a hotty, yum! I did find it quite similar to KA's Bitten, but I had to stop myself going 'this happened in bitten' because my hubby was getting evil. I bought bitten on audio tape the unabridged version, it's great and the hubby really enjoyed it too. I think she said Stolen and the rest of the books were soon to come on audio. I drive a fair old amount and love to listen to audio.

But I would advise not listening to LKH merry gentry series on audio :) stuck in a huge queue of traffic on the M5, with that blaring out, some really dirty looks from the other cars ;) My hubby admitted that he would find it hard to drive listening to that :O
I thouroughly recommend Rachel Vincent's Werecat Books 'Stray' and 'Rogue'. Just finished Rogue and I can't wait for the next one! anjaleblanc has recommended some other really good books as well, I am starting Faith Hunter's 'Bloodring' next!
Hi Ruadh,

Following are some recommendations. You already have some books from some authors, just wanted to give the series overview. Not sure if publishing dates of American authors have any timelags to Britain. How is the Urban Fantasy scene in Britain / Scotland / Ireland? Anything interesting that hasn't made it to USA yet?

Nice to hear from you, yes our tastes are very similar. I love looking at other peoples' libraries it gives you so many ideas for books to read and try. You should try Kay Hooper the Bishop series I bet you would enjoy them as they always involve a psychic with a different talent! I will have to keep an eye on your library incase you discover a new auther that looks good. C U Mitch
Sunshine is such a unique work it's hard to say, "If you loved Sunshine, I KNOW you'll like xyz"

Some of the Special Sauce Recommendations here are interesting...
http://www.librarything.com/work/10635/r...

Strangely enough I'd suggest anything Special Sauce recommends for "pride and prejudice" and "Beauty and the Beast". Please read the Midnighters series by Scott Westerfeld, "Vampire High" by Douglas Reed, "The White Darkness", The better works of Diana Gabaldon, "Witch Child", and the works of Cherie Priest.

After that scattershot list of recommendations you probably don't want to friend me anymore, HA!

I'm looking forward to Stephenie Meyer's "The Host" coming out in a few months.
Hi Ruadh, Sorry to read that you are a misplaced Scot in Britain. :) Thx for adding me as an "Interesting Library". I'm not big on the whole review writing thing. I always felt better editing (adding/expanding something) than creating something new or from scratch. Probably has to do with lack of focus, there's sooo many things out there and I'd have a hard time deciding what to concentrate on uhh back to the reviews, others are much better at writing fantastic short synopsis of books as you can see I'd have a hard time getting to the point *L* I'll check out your library some more and see what I really liked to recommend and you didn't already read/have in your library. My current books are pretty much all Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Romance, Fantasy from Light to Dark to YA to Naughty *G* All have flawed female protagonists *S*
Sláinte!
Anja
Ive added many of your books in your libary,to my wish list! lol, you have some really good books there :D xx
Thanks for commenting back. Have you read the last book in the Balefire series, I didn't see a review by you? I like the Wicca series a lot too, not sure which one I prefer yet. Have you tried the Circle of Three books by Isobel Bird? I read the first 6 a few years ago and intend to read the complete series again. They are similar to the Wicca books.
Don't worry about the time it took! We have gone from 28 books shared to 46!! I own a couple of the Dresden Files and will get to them in time, but I do hope you enjoy the Kissing Sin series.
Love the photo! I was just up in Liverpool visiting my family so thought I would leave you a message. I saw your reviews for the Balefire series which I am halfway through and assume you have read the Wicca series as well. We share 82 books and I will have a proper look at what you have read and leave some recommendations for you. Good luck getting your book out there (what kind of book is it?).
I saw that you owned strange fate. where did you get it?
i would recommend the kissing sin series. I have only read the first one, but it was delicious! Hope you like it! Thanks for commenting back!
Ha! Love the profile picture!! We share 9 books and I came across your profile while looking up Buring Bones by Christopher Golden & Rick Hautala. I just got it this morning at a used book store mint condition never read. Anyway, just saying hello from Florida, USA!
Hey we share 28 books! However, I have read many more that are on your list. I only have catalogued books that I have read since the beginning of 2006! happy reading!
Thank you for your recommendations too :-) Right now I have 9 books out from the library waiting for me to read but once I get through those I'll have to request those. Currently I'm reading "Peeps" which is pretty good so far.
I do have a couple recommendations for you after taking a look at our "shared" books and the others on your list. I saw some British Chick Lit on your list and I just read a YA book called "Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging" which was very cute. It made me laugh outloud in places. It is the diary of a 14 year old British girl.

Also, on the supernatural/vampire front if you haven't read "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer I would recommend this book as well. The very best vampire novel I've ever read. The vampires are not portrayed in the typical manner but are very interesting nonetheless.
My favorite phrase is also "I've read it in a book somewhere". It drives my friends crazy because they want to know exactly how I acquired the information that is rattling around in my brain.
