About me My home is in Albany, Oregon, USA. I live in an older (1886) house, with my wonderful wife, three daughters, one grand-daughter, and various sorts of pets.

About my library I enjoy reading and collecting books. As usual, my bookcases are too full, and I need to find yet more wall space. I enjoy classics and early 20th century authors. I collect Easton Press, Modern Library, Landmark, and other books that catch my fancy. I greatly enjoy juvenile fiction -- such as A. Ransome's Swallows & Amazons series, E. Kyle, M. Twain, R.L. Stevenson, J.K. Rowling, etc -- books that youths and adults both enjoy. I enjoy early heroic fantasy and science fiction, from the 1920's through the 1950's. I enjoy the American novelists up through the 1950's -- Steinbeck, Hemingway, Faulkner, and others.

Dear Shawn,
Ara is building me a new bookcase in the library across the existing one. I'm so excited. There will be room for my books for a while. It goes floor to ceiling.
Love, Mom
You are welcome!
:-))
Hi -- Thanks for the invitation to be your friend. I am very happy to be asked! My name is Adele and I see we have 31 books in common. I only joined Library Thing a few months ago and have been working my way through my bookshelves which tend to be organized by genre. The books I am presently cataloging are my classic novels, many of which we do have in common. I look forward to seeing your new additions as they appear.
Hi Shawn,
So, have you picked up The Deathly Hallows yet?? I bought it the morning it came out and finished last night.
Heather
I thought we were already friends, but I guess now it's official??
How is everyone?
The girls and I should be down to visit around the 20th.
Heather
It would be easy to understand if the book was out-of-print & rare, but I amazed by some books that come up as no one else having.
Hello, I just had to check your profile when I saw that you were the only other member that owned a copy of " The Magic Story". But it turns out we share forty titles (so far---I am only up to the M's).
DisneyWorld!! What fun! We had hoped that after doing our taxes we would have enough to do a week at Disneyland but no such luck. I saw a thing on the new Finding Nemo ride @ Epcot...it looks like fun!

Hi Shawn,
Angel was here this last weekend and we checked out your library and I noticed you had been adding some. Great job!! She signed up as well.

Heather
Maybe I'll get to the book covers after I finish adding my books. I see we also collect Landmarks.
Shawn,
I hope your family had fun camping.
I got both your mom and I caught up with you this weekend. I am sure that it won't last.
Have a great week.
Heather
Thanks for your interest. I have been collecting Folio Society books since 1974 but the rate of acquisition has accelerated since Ebay started attracting lots of booksellers. I fondly hoped to have acquired all their catalog by the year 2000 - however, I reckoned without the Society increasing its rate of publication and it simply got too expensive and self-indulgent to buy all their new titles. I am now resigned to never owning them all! :-(
Easton Press has not set its cap at the British market so we don't often see their books here. We occasionally see books from the Limited Editions Club, NY and I have a few of those.
I will be loading pictures of Folio Society titles as soon as I have finished my catalog but that may be a little while.
Hi Shawn,
It's Heather. I am doing your mom's stuff while I am visiting. I have also joined, my user name is Shashti.
