About meMy home is in Albany, Oregon, USA. I live in an older (1886) house, with my wonderful wife, three daughters, one grand-daughter, and various sorts of pets.

About my libraryI enjoy reading and collecting books. As usual, my bookcases are too full, and I need to find yet more wall space. I enjoy classics and early 20th century authors. I collect Folio Society, Modern Library, Landmark, Easton Press, Gnome Press, Shasta, FPCI, and other books that catch my fancy. I greatly enjoy juvenile fiction -- such as A. Ransome's Swallows & Amazons series, E. Kyle, M. Twain, R.L. Stevenson, etc -- books that youths and adults both enjoy. I enjoy early heroic fantasy and science fiction, from the 1920's through the 1950's. I enjoy the American novelists up through the 1950's -- Steinbeck, Hemingway, Faulkner, and others.

I remember as a sprog very much enjoying a running cartoon strip about the future called 'The Trigan Empire' in a great children's magazine called 'Look and Learn'.
'The Pilot' looks wonderful! I confess I had not checked what else JFC had written beyond LOTM...
Thanks for your vote of encouragement, Shawn. You've inspired me to give it a go, as you suggest, a little at a time. If I could catalog my library as insouciantly as I buy books, I'd be finished in no time. Ha!
Thank you! I am so eager for it to arrive. Your library is wonderful, my collection is so small compared.

Received a comment about a person who noted I have a lot of early sci fi. So I thought I'd do a count of the publishers I am actively collecting. I do have a lot of early sci-fi from other publishers (such as Easton Press, and First Edition Library, and Doubleday, and such) but these are the early 1950's and 1950's publishers I most enjoy collecting:

17 books : Fantasy Publishing Company (FPCI)
24 books : Fantasy Press
38 books : Gnome Press
13 books : Prime Press
7 books : Shasta
I thought we were already friends, but I guess now it's official??
How is everyone?
The girls and I should be down to visit around the 20th.
It would be easy to understand if the book was out-of-print & rare, but I amazed by some books that come up as no one else having.
Hello, I just had to check your profile when I saw that you were the only other member that owned a copy of " The Magic Story". But it turns out we share forty titles (so far---I am only up to the M's).

Hi Shawn,
It's Heather. I am doing your mom's stuff while I am visiting. I have also joined, my user name is Shashti.
