Noticed you liked Lovely Bones, and I was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here, as well as a few other book-related sites. Thought you might like my book since it also contains a young female narrator struggling with a series of tragic circumstances. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like (I'm out of physical copies at the moment). Here's a link to a summary (and a sample chapter) in case you'd like to read more about the book before you commit:

Ummmm...let me think! Hmmmmm....no wait - I need to concentrate! Think harder Lyn. Oh, I got it! A Henning Mankell trip! Did I get it - there were so few clues! LOL! Sorry, couldn't resist...our shared must have increased spectacularly now. I did the exact same thing - got them all at once. I am assuming you are enjoying them - I have now read six / seven, I think; and they get so much better. I'm a fan, except for Kennedy's Brain...???

Hello Margit! Hope you are well - is Spring sprung? Someone turned the heater down around here only in the last few days - but as it is nearly winter it is to be expected. I have two days off at the end of this week to go to a BOOK FAIR - I'm so excited! Any esoteric volume you are looking for that I can see if I can find? Or any others for that matter...
How's things?

Ooh - nice image; interested in your opinion on the book too. I am reading this series at the moment which I think is in similar vein; I do love a good rip-roaring action fantasy every so often. I think that is what the Weeks series will be, and I have read lots of good reviews about them, which is even more encouraging. Speaking of which; I just saw you have added a shared Mankell. Please don't read my review until you have read it - have you read others of his? *mutters to herself: LOOK at Margit's library BEFORE you ask such questions* I love his Wallander books...and now I am shutting up...

I know what you mean: I had to spell-check crocheting twice; I kept wanting it to be crotchet-y! LOL! Oh, I'm sorry about about the arthritis - :( Bummer! How long have you suffered with that? I know it can appear quite early in life, and is very painful.

I just watched the 'day of mourning' ceremony we had for the bushfire tragedy. It is truly devastating. The number of animals, and the amount of land destroyed, also defies belief - so much so that that are concerned that some species may be wiped out. It was very lovely, and quite important I feel. These fires happen in lots of other countries too, but this one has been our worst national disaster ever, and has annihilated so many small communities, in such beautiful country. There is going to be a big formal inquiry and I hope they decide to fire the fuel in the bush more, like the indigenous people did to preserve their land, and before environmentalists, in their misguided beliefs, stopped it happening. Otherwise I am sure we will go through this again - it is getting hotter and drier every year in this place! Just my small opinion...

I'm off for a walk - to clear my head, and to get a coffee and finish the last 50 pages of my latest. And to enjoy the last of my weekend. They go way too fast.

Take care,
~Lyn
Hello Margit!

I just realised I hadn't replied to your last message; and then I noticed the Second Book of Modern Lace Knitting... does that mean you started your Azalea one? Is Lace Knitting using thin cotton and knitting, with needles as with wool? I keep thinking of it as crocheting (I like to do both), but I am a bit confused I think. Then again that is a normal state of my mind... :) I can't tell by the cover - but the work looks gorgeous. I am inspired to knit myself a jumper this year - especially after chatting with you.

I see you also got the Brent Weeks book - I have managed to get his books too. they look good don't they? Another one to share. What are you reading now?

I hope you are well - the weather is mad here as usual but it is more like the end of summer, after being so cold straight after those hideous heat waves. My favourite season, Autumn, is coming, and I am wishing it will be favourable.

Just wanted to say hi!

Hi!
~Lyn
Yeah - kept the humidity; bad thought, and the package would have gotten all soggy! :) 24C - that's quite pleasant; I think it is supposed be 23C here tomorrow, after 41C today. That was just too, too awful. I keep forgetting you are south enough not to be too cold - yes?

Yes, I am a knitter, though not so much these last years. I enjoy it very much, and find it soothing; though I don't much like sewing the thing together when I've finished. You think I would be happy as it is finished - go figure! I need some new pattern books. I found this great new store in the city last time I was in there, so I am returning in autumn to see if I can find a book and knit myself a nice jumper this year. Seems weird talking about it with my present weather. I usually knit while/if when I watch TV, otherwise I am like you - reading instead.

I see you are having a Jo Walton moment, and a good one at that... wotcha reading now?

Hello Margit!

Just popped by to check out your latest.. loved some of your reviews that I have gotten to, so far.
I am sweltering in 30 degree Celsius heat (or more) here and I still want your 'sock' book!!! Though the Mammoth Book of Sorcerer's Tales may be a better option! LOL. It has been too, too hot and horrible - and I needed to vent, especially when I saw your latest addition - heh.
I'm sending you some of our too hot and humid air with this message - so your feet stay warmer! :)
Hope you are well,
x Lyn
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I hope it is not too cold for you, while enjoy your little break. It is very hot here today, but should be 10 degrees cooler tomorrow????!

Happy reading too...

~Lyn
Hah! You are too - which is exactly what I exclaimed to myself just now!! What a hoot! I thought your username was familiar! And look - it is nearly two years for you too - happy nearly-anniversary. To think, all this time we have probably unknowingly crossed paths; small world eventually.

Oh Goody - this is even better..
I have to go now. I need to mooch a book some lovely person just reserved for me!

Yes, it's hard to top Cherryh for sci-fi & fantasy. She's one author whose new releases I used to stalk, but I haven't read much of her lately, for some reason. Maybe it's time to start again.

Back in the 70s, my ex turned me on to Sherlock Holmes, and, after I finished that series, I discovered Christie and devoured all her mysteries. Then Tey, Ngaoi Marsh, Allingham, and so on. As far as Tey goes, I'm just sorry she didn't write more mysteries.

Have you read Edmund Crispin? He wrote some classic British mysteries. One of my favorites is "The Moving Toyshop."
Yeh - another Cherryh fan! I thought I was alone in singing her praises on LT. I haven't read a lot of her early work, but I'm getting there slowly. Have been to the fan site - google Shejidan? Someone's put in a lot of effort.
