When I checked my page, I saw you had a copy of my Book: "A Counselor Looks at the Big Book". I'd really be interested in knowing what you think about it. I'm an old retired Field Artillery NCO now working a second career and this is my first book.
You may have already forgotten about the review you wrote about Twenty Fragments of a Ravenous Youth, but I wanted to respond to what you said about eating. When I lived in China, one of the first things I noticed was the padlock on the kitchen door in my apartment built for the Asian Games (1990). Later I remember being on a river cruise in Guangzhou when the buffet was opened for the passengers--an indescribable mob scene. I think that we Americans have no idea what it's like to be hungry, perhaps even starving. I've also read accounts about family life with Holocaust survivors in which their children talk about obsessive tendencies about food in their parents. So maybe this explains a bit about the food in TFRY!

I've just joined a week ago. I notice we share Escape from Freedom. I'd guess there might be others! I'll go read your review right now.
