About my libraryI date the start of my library to the summer of 1958, when the public library in our small town deaccessioned an old set of Charles Dickens and gave it to me. Since then, the number has fluxuated from several hundred to over 3000. As a college English teacher--and ultimately a dean--my library has chiefly been a working teacher's library. In 2003 I retired and donated most of it to a nearby college. Now have about 400 books, still largely "scholarly" in the broadest sense, mostly things that interest me--18th century history; literary biography; a fair smattering of mysteries. My library is a reflection of my mind--eclectic, diffuse, shelf worn, in near fine condition.
