About my libraryI've chosen to post to my library all the books that I have read (or audiobooks I've listened to) simply to keep track of where I've been. As a lover of serial's I find I lose track of where I've been and where I'm going. Also this helps me keep track of what books my book club has done. While I have 2 large bookshelves bursting at the seams, I happily trade most away for new ones.

I just finished Duma Key last week, and was pleasantly surpised by it. I sort of have a love/hate thing going with Stephen King. Some of his books I just love and will read over and over, (the Stand), some I absolutely loath and don't finish, (Gerald's Game) and some I plug away at for weeks, and when I finish them, I'm ticked off that I wasted so much time on the darn thing, (It). I actually spent the last half of Duma Key worried that he was going to do something to screw it up, but it ended up being quite good. Creepy, but good. Kind of vintage King.
Now I'm reading a book I scored through Early Reviewers, that is so far pretty darn good. I wish I could be one of those folks who listened as well as I read, I could finish so many more books if I did the whole books on tape thing during the day, but I've never been able to keep my mind from straying during the audiobooks. Probably due to many years of parenthood, in which I've perfected the fine art of appearing to listen to long drawn out minutely detailed descriptions of a funny ad on tv; without really hearing a word.....
I'm with you on the idea of somebody having to die in the first chapter, I've never heard it put like that, but its soooo true!
Have a good week, Kelly

What can I say? You just made me feel a whole lot better about that book. It seems whenever everyone on Amazon goes completely gaga about a book, I end up loathing it. (The Historian springs to mind....one of the reviewers on Amazon called it a "tough slog", but worth it in the end. I don't really have the patience for a tough slog of a book, too many books to read to waste my time on one I don't like!)
My 18 year old son finished Life of Pi, if only to be able to "neener neener" me. He said it really didn't get any better, was sort of a pointless waste of his time, but at least he wasn't a quitter like me. He gave up on The Historian also, but he likes to point out that he managed 100 more pages than I did!
I'll have to take a look at your library. This library thing is sooo cool. Of course the level of coolness I give it is probably in direct proportion to my overall dorkiness.
Have a good one! Kelly
