About meI'll read a Pony Club Manual if there's nothing else. When I am not reading or writing I'm striding the woods with my dog or playing Irish music on harp and concertina (at the same time, naturally, I'm very talented).
About my libraryless than *** Life is too short
*** Flawed but readable.
***1/2 Very readable. Solid workmanship. Thin in some aspects.
**** Very good indeed. Flashes of brilliance, engaging content, characters, themes developed. Recommended
****1/2 Highly recommended
***** I loved it, either because it is an inspired or profound work or I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down.
Books are rated in a few different ways: Pure enjoyment, great story telling and literary merit. Point being that the stars can mean one or the other. With genre reads I tend to award stars for story-telling and pure enjoyment (as in, I couldn't put it down); literature need not be enjoyable and many factors go into awarding 5 stars, but I wouldn't rate any "great" book a five unless I was also engaged at some much deeper level, as in, totally blown away by every aspect of the writing of it throughout.
