About meI'm a reclusive reader of the female variety, age 27 and hell-bent for spinsterhood. I have a degree in English/Creative Writing. I tend to be snarky at inopportune moments. Usually I'm a very quiet person, but I can blather about books until the listener's eyes glaze over. My collection of brick-length Victorian lit might seem incredibly refined, but don't let that fool you--I also love campy horror films & loud music (Led Zeppelin, The White Stripes, & Porcupine Tree are three favorites).
Right now I'm trying to sell my first novel, a YA/teen urban fantasy. It's nice that the market is coinciding with my personal tastes; hopefully that will make it easier to sell. *blink*
About my libraryI'm fascinated by Victorian sensation novels, early gothics, & old-fashioned ghost stories, so expect to see much of that particular ilk. I also love historical fiction set in the 18th & 19th centuries. Authentic or pastiche, realistic or fantastic...I'm happy so long as it's well-written & has elements of the melodramatic, the macabre, or the paranormal.
....
I'm careful to keep my ratings current. This is partly because I've got a touch of obsessive/compulsive genes, but mostly I just like to share my thoughts on what I've read. :)
5 stars - I loved this book.
4.5 stars - I loved this book almost as much.
4 stars - a good read; worth keeping. (when marked "favorite," this is a guilty pleasure or a weaker installment in an awesome series.)
3.5 stars - flawed, but has positive points.
3 stars - either inherently cheesy "reading lite" or sadly disappointing lit.
2.5 stars or less - donated to Goodwill. my library space is limited; only keepers need apply.

I have a Summer Reading Goal (joined a friend's group) but I don't think I'll make it. Ah, I needed a fire lit to speed up my reading... so I'm happy!
I've been completely immersed in urban fantasy the past few months and most of what I have read/hope to read soon falls in that category. Right now, I'm reading "Street Magic" by Caitlin Kittredge. I just got another Richelle Mead book earlier. Sooo many books to read, so little time!
Oh, the Sophie books.. I was updating books from the past year. (SLOW process! Ugh) Chick-lit isn't what I really like.. wouldn't call it my favorite genre by any means. (Literary-Fiction, historical fiction or Urban Fantasy would be).. but I do like her books when I need to laugh. Her books are solely responsible for cheering me up in the hospital. I haven't read one since,. I own them all, though. (I was given them all as a gift.) I've read 3 or 4. I'm not ashamed they are there. ;)
What is your favorite thing that you have read lately??
Drop me a line sometime! We need to catch up!!
What is on your Summer Reading List? or TBR for this year?
I hope you are doing okay! I miss ya, dear!!
