About meI am a bookseller at a local Half Price Books store. I have a Master's Degree in Musicology from Indiana University.

About my libraryMy library is largely an accumulation reflecting my changing interests rather than a collection. Areas of strength include poetry, lit crit, music history, cartoons and cartoonists, Punchiana, cookbooks, and books about Minneapolis. I am slowly starting add my musical scores as a separate collections, but do not plan that this will ever be a comprehensive list.

While LoC and the British Library are my "gold standards" when importing records, I've also found OhioLink to be quite useful. If you don't know about it, OhioLink is a consortium of most of the major academic and public libraries in Ohio, hence their union catalog includes places like Oberlin and OSU, libraries that can be quite good for printed music cataloging. You might want to take a look at it sometime.

Yes, it's an unusual and largely forgotten piece. If any piano work of Carpenter's gets much play today, it would have to be "Diversions."

I've been watching your additions with interest, and you've somewhat inspired me to resume adding music scores to my LT catalog. There are hundreds still to add, and I suspect it will be an off and on project, since there is too frequently poor cataloging copy for music, and I try to avoid manual entry. Also, I've decided the appearance of the catalog is enhanced by the presence of covers, and that means a lot of scanning.

We have interesting overlaps in our libraries. I wondering if you've read Hubbs' Queer composition of American sound, and if so what you though of it? It's been on my shelf for a while, but I haven't gotten to it yet -- you know how it is.
