How did you learn Japanese so well? I'm studying it but I've had a lot less success than you, I can't imagine myself managing to read Noruwei no Mori in the original...

Oh I can niether read nor speak Japanese beyond a few phrases - but I love it nonetheless and I love Murakami and I collect my favourite books in translation and my favourite authors in their original language.

That doesn't mean I don't try to read them though. I recognize a handful of characters and a handful of verb endings and I know the kana though I keep forgetting some letters.

But Norwegian wood is too atmospheric to play with this way for me. For this I prefer the quirky Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World.

Did you notice I also have Norwegian Wood in Norwegian?
