About meHistorian, writer, museum collections manager

About my libraryStill in the middle of cataloguing; I'll finish eventually. I have lots of sf and fantasy and lots of kids books, and many books relating to the history of science, technology and medicine, and especially medical quackery and wax museums, as those are the subject of my dissertation. I love to cook, so I have lots of cookbooks. Recently I've been reading a lot of 'follow your passion' type career books, and since such books tend to be extremely inane, I'm reviewing the ones I liked.

Books tagged 'mpl,' 'sppl,' and 'um' are ones I borrowed from the library. I'm also keeping track of all the books I read this year. The tag 'bought at Amazon' refers to the oldest feminist bookstore in North America, located in Minneapolis, not the online retailer.

Thank you for starting a group for My Pants! John is right, that will never get old.
I don't think I replied to your comment before, but I appreciate it. I just came back to LibraryThing after some absence and noticed it again. I'm graduating soon and applying for a job at the Center for History and New Media at George Mason University, and have worked quite a bit in a science museum, though not in history museums, so it sounds like we have a lot in common. May I ask when you graduated from Oberlin and where you went from here?
Hi! There are actually a couple books in your catalog I've read. The Secret Country books I read way back in high school. I've just recently started cataloging and am really doing it to keep track of the books I'm reading now. I'll bet there are other books we have in common we just haven't listed :-)
Hallo!

I'll take a look at Skinnydipping in the Lake of the Dead, thanks. I ordered some Small Beer Press books recently and read a blurb about it in the catalog they included, but a personal rec is always good!

I added Fudoki to my list; have you read I Am a Cat? It is on my to be read pile (actually a small bookshelf, dammit) but I'm looking forward to reading it.

Hopefully, DWJ's new book will be better!
