About my libraryThe varied results of a reading and collecting habit begun in childhood. I form attachments to books and find it hard to part with them, even if it seems unlikely I will read them again. There is always the feeling that I might need it sometime. Cataloguing is progressing painfully slowly and still has some way to go before completion.

You will see from my "Currently Reading" collection that I read way too many books at a time. Some are long term reads, dipped into on an occasional basis, but I usually have 3 or 4 that I am reading more intensively at different times of the day and for different purposes.

Thanks for visiting me :-) You are one of the few I've "met" here with whom I share The Madman by Khalil Gibran. I read him voraciously in high school. You're right we share quite a few books in common don't we? LT is so wonderful that way, I love it so much.

I see you're "dipping into" Samuel Pepys. I discovered (thanks to LT) a wonderful website that is revealing Pepys diary one day at a time, trying to match up the dates to ours as much as possible. http://www.pepysdiary.com/ It's a fun way to read him, but then, he's great fun to read any way.
Thanks for your kind note about my review! Have you read Eats, Shoots and Leaves? I see we have a lot of fun books in common, so if that's any indication, I suspect that you'll enjoy it, too (if you haven't already). Thanks for saying hi - happy reading! lisa :)
Cheryl: "The Night Lives On" is next on my list. I had never heard of it either, and I'm anxious to see if Lord's perspective changed from "A Night to Remember." I've read the latter a dozen times! I'll be glad to let you know what I think. Mary Lou
Just stumbled upon your profile, and had to take the Nerd Test :-)
Thanks for all the great library info for England! That's great. I've printed it off and it's in my travel papers. I hadn't thought of the Bodlein library--good suggestion! You've been very helpful :-)
Thanks for your informative message about the British Library and Museum. Unfortunately, I find both their websites very confusing! The Henry VIII exhibit, however, sounds right up my alley. We also plan to go to Bath and Oxford, so thanks for the tips on checking out cathedrals. :-)
Thank you very much for the nice comment about my review! Welcome to LibraryThing; I hope you enjoy yourself here.
Glad to be 'interesting' - I'll return the compliment if that's OK!
Hello
I had a look at your Delicious docs, and I've added you to my network, they look handy and I need all the help I can get -hope you don't mind!
Good luck with the job search - I'm hoping that a local school will want me next year...
Hello Cheryl
I'm childishly delighted at your kind comment, and glad that you liked the Nerd test! I found it on someone elses....
I see that you are a librarian - currently 'doing' your Chartership? I'm (finally)attempting an MSc in Library & Information studies as we speak. Sadly (as my NT shows only too starkly) I'm finding the computing side a little tricky...
By the way, isn't it lovely to have a Librarian heroine (Lirael)? You must read Abhorsen to finish it off, if you haven't already.
I look forward to seeing you around.
