About meI am a high school English teacher, focusing on 10th and 11th grade. I have always been a voracious reader, as well as writer, and certainly have always loved and embraced language. I grew up reading primarily fiction, until I entered college and was introduced to the dense but elightening world of theory. In college, I studied Cultural Anthropology and American Literature and I did most of my thinking at the time about postmodern culture and literature. I focused primarily on Beat Generation authors, as well as the poets who inspired the Beats and those postmodern authors who in turn continued to dissect and play with language.
Currently, I enjoy reading a range of genres from young adult fiction to non-fiction regarding current issues in American culture. I love poetry, esp. anything post WWII American. I generally don't enjoy mysteries or science fiction unless they are anomalous for the genre. I will occasionally read horror, esp. psychological thrillers.

About my libraryI've donated 100's of books from my private library over the past ten years as I've tried to simplify my life and shed material goods. The books that remain in my private library are those that I feel strongly connected to, as well as my complete poetry collection which I just cannot bear to break apart.
Also on library thing are books that I have read recently or in the past that I want to remember as part of my literary history. Some I want to revisit because I read them 15 years ago or more. Since I teach high school English, pretty much everything is fodder for my curriculum.
