About me Stephen Bown was born in Ottawa and studied history at the University of Alberta. He has long been interested in the history of science and exploration and is the author or co-author of numerous articles and several books, including Forgotten Highways: Wilderness Journeys Down the Historic Trails of the Canadian Rockies and the internationally acclaimed Scurvy: How a Surgeon, a Mariner and a Gentleman Solved the Greatest Medical Mystery of the Age of Sail. Bown lives in the Canadian Rockies with his wife and two young children.
About my library I love history, biography and archaeology, particularly of adventurers, explorers and travellers. I also write about these same topics. In fiction I enjoy a good historical mystery or adventure story such as Bernard Cornwell's Viking series. I also enjoy unusual titles like Kockroach. I'll read almost anything if its good.
