About meStephen B Pearl is, like Brad the lead character in his novel Tinker's Plague, (now wasn't that subtle?) a generalist: an EMT, husband, science enthusiast, handyman, backyard mechanic, and environmentalist, rather like Ray from his novel, Nukekubi, he is also a student of the paranormal. He lives in Southern Ontario, where many of his works are set, with his wife and three cats all of whom attempt to control him with varying degrees of success. All things considered he’s a nice enough guy who tips well for good service and doesn’t tip at all for bad. That simple fact tells you a little about how best to deal with him.

He tries to treat people just a little bit better than they treat him until they give him a reason not to.

Oh did he mention he hates referring to himself in the third person. :-)

Really, all that’s interesting about Stephen finds its way into his writing so if you want to see the best and some times the worst of Stephen B. Pearl read his books. (Please)

For the nitty-gritty, he was born November 24, 1961 in the St. Catharines General Hospital. His grade school career was made difficult because he is severally dyslectic, a fact that didn’t stop him obtaining a collage degree and half a university undergraduate degree.
His father, who was a research chemist, instilled in him a simple belief that if a person has done it; it can be done. This belief informs the characters in his works who strive to fix the problems in the various worlds he has created for them.

Stephen has worked extensively as a lifeguard, swim instructor and is currently qualified to stop peoples’ hearts so that they can establish a proper beating rhythm, though I doubt you’d want him to and trust me he’s in no hurry to try it out.
