Tanstaafl (my use of tanstaafl anyway) is from The Heinlein novel the moon is a harsh mistress, where There Aint No Such Thing As A Free Lunch is a sort of a National Motto (the nation of Luna ;-)). Sounds like a funny use of it - the use of it for a place that sells food I mean. I have used it frequently as a screen name on bbs, once I found a pub that was called tanstaafl and used a pic of their sign as my avatar.
