Hi teacherpoet, I'm searching for a book by Johnson Warren called "Visual resonances: August Sander and Richard Avedon" and your name came up when I typed it in the search. I wonder whether you have the actual copy of it and if it is possible to read it. I'd be very gratefull. I'm writing a dissertation on this topic and the text is vital to read.

I just figured out your presence as a LibraryThing author in my member connections: The Kate Breakey book. I have a print of one of her photographs. It's from a series of cactus still lives (not in the book). I wish I could afford more; I love her work! Collecting photographs is a new passion of mine.

Hi! Only 3 of us have Wright Morris' "Fork River Space Project." I'm planning to do a review and hope that will lead others to it. Long ago I was able to tell him it was one of my favorite books, and was delighted when he said softly, "Mine too"! With such a big library do you remember the first time you read it? Esta1923

Dear teacherpoet: Your book "Shanghai" showed up in my "stats", so I'm just dropping by to say "Hi". I visited Shanghai in October 2004 when I went to see our oldest daughter. She was attending the University of Nanjing and met me at the PuDong Airport. We spent several days in Shanghai, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I'm rather sad that they are demolishing the Bund in preparation for the Olympics, but time moves on and things change. I'm at least glad to have seen some of it. I also am delighted in your interest in Marco Polo. My first color movie at a drive-in theater was "Marco Polo" in 1962, starring Rory Calhoun. It left quite an impression on me. I was eight years old at the time. I now know that it was lacking in terms of historical accuracy, but I would still love to see it again if it ever comes out on DVD. Finally, I note your appreciation of Vermeer. I love his perspectives with the checkerboard tile floors, the inclusion of maps and paintings in the background and the people and stories in his works.
