About meGreg participated in the legendary superhero parody project, Superguy. Among Greg's stories was one that revolved around Sal the Garbageman, the absolute and uncontested ruler of the world and all-around nice guy. That story formed the basis of Greg's first published novel, THE PENGUINS OF DOOM.

Greg is active in the children's literature community, serving since 2001 as Webmaster and Assistant Regional Coordinator for the three New England regions of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. In 2006 he founded the Class of 2k7 group of debut children's and young adult authors and serves as mentor for follow-up groups including the current Class of 2k8 and upcoming Class of 2k9.

A lawyer by day and author/illustrator by night, Greg fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and fun. He and his wife live in the Boston area with their infant daughter and two cats of varying temperament.

Water Night

Night with the eyes of a horse that trembles in the night,
Night with eyes of water in the field asleep
Is in your eyes, a horse that trembles is in
Your eyes of secret water.

Eyes of shadow-water,
Eyes of well-water,
Eyes of dream-water.

Silence and solitude,
Two little animals moon-led,
Drink in your eyes,
Drink in those waters.

If you open your eyes, night opens doors of musk,
The secret kingdom of the water opens
Flowing from the center of the night.

And if you close your eyes,
A river, a silent and beautiful current, fills you from within,
Flows forward, darkens you:

Night brings its wetness to beaches in your soul.

— Octavio Paz, translated by Muriel Rukeyser
Hi Greg -

I saw that we share 25 books so far--and that one of them is Samurai Shortstop! Thanks for your support. You're the first person (besides myself, of course) to own Samurai on LibraryThing. I've made the big-time now!

I'm still working my way through our sci-fi collection, so I suspect that "25 books shared" will rise further. And I haven't even begun work on our collection of kids books.

When Penguins of Doom comes out, you should look into the LibraryThing Authors list--it highlights authors who use LT. Good luck with your book - I know you can't wait until it comes out!
