About meI am currently retired, sort of, after spending over twenty years in the military and another twenty four years as a health care consultant and teacher. I currently substitute teach at local schools, kindergarten through high school. My wife of 45 years and I have lived in the woods in the Ozark Mountains for the past 24 years. My hobbies include the study of history, reading, photography, bicycling, running, hiking, collecting Civil War memorabilia and Native American Artifacts. I have had a life long passion for birding. I also write bad poetry and paint and carve, but not well. My wife and I have literally lived all over the United States and for many years, lived in Turkey. We still travel as much as possible. Both my wife and I love hiking and canoeing, but simply due to age, we only take day trips now and gentle floats of gentle rivers and streams, avoiding the big white waters we use to love. We very involved with our four grandsons who live within a couple of miles of us. We are both dog lovers and spend much time with our pets. We are very involved with the local library, local humane society and our church.

About my libraryI have been collecting books for years. Our current home library contains well over 2,300 volumes. The majority of these are biography and history although a goodly number of novels are included. We do have an extensive collection of cook books and a very large collection of poetry which are primarily anthologies. We have been collecting first editions and signed works since the mid 1960s.

Don, thanks for the suggestions. I am not familiar with Seven Medieval Kings and will have to look into it. What topics does it cover?

We really liked your review of Retribution, especially the line "These few flaw [sic], and they are few, should not in anyway distract from the overall work. If you are that hung up on such matters, you should research and read the after action reports yourself." I have to remember that line to say to people in the future! :--) We also just posted a review of the book. We had not read yours first, and that's a good thing, because it would have felt hard to say anything different! (except we love that British syntax thing that's so fun to try to emulate).
Always nice to find others interested in medieval history. I found your profile through the Medieval Europe group. Any particular book you would recommend? What's your favorite non-fiction book on medieval history? I'm always looking for new books to add to my library. Thanks.

Dearest Mr. Blankenship... I realized exactly who you were as I began reading your profile. I was rather perplexed by the 9 books, but only for a minute.

I have two libraries here, btw. The first is THEPAM which is only for my history readings. The second is PamFamilyLibrary which includes more of the household's reads.

There's a third which I share with you. Did you know that? I started one for BooksforKids-reviews.

Your Servant,
P~
Looking forward to all this.
