About me What can I say, I'm a whale of a guy.

I was born in 1960, which makes me a Baby Boomer Beluga.

There is no question that I am a book geek.

About my library I read very widely, primarily science, history, philosophy and any of their combined permutations - history of science, philosophy of science, history of philosophy - get it? I warned you that I was a bit of a geek so that now that I have admitted it, it is your problem, not mine.

Anyway, I'm a little paranoid about spouting off on ideas that I have because I no longer remember if they are mine or those of someone whom I have read. Therefore, I want to keep track of what I have read so that I can give credit where credit is due. Also I am intrigued by the idea of social networks, and a book social network is hard to ignore.

I just read a book about the history of logic (Gardner's "Logic Machines"), but I'm not sure it would be what your interested in. While it does go into the history it is very focused on covering historical artifacts (machines & diagrams) and so may go too far off track from a general history.

Changing any one tag to another (i.e. your "mathematics" to "Mathematics") is now REALLY easy. Just go to the "Tag" page, find the tag you want and click the "edit" button that shows up on mouse-over, make the change and save it.
Thought I would introduce myself since I have the distinction of owning 1 out of every 5 of your books. That's a pretty high overlap!

What is the difference between your "Mathematics" and "mathematics" tags?

Bigbeluga, You are not old because I am not old. I was born in 1960, and I have lovely skin. Therefore you are not old and probably have lovely skin. Sincerely, Mary Beth
Hello TBB. I received your awesome comment. First, The Art of War can be spiritual when the original author himself (Sun Tzu) said "To win without fighting is best." Now what kind of general in his right mind would write a pansy statement like that? Someone who knows what he's talking about, that's who. That's why most war veterans are doves, not warhawks. And most warhawks are actually chickenhawks.

Another thing. If you're in medicine, you study disease. Not because you want to promote disease. You want to understand it. You want to understand it so you can stop it. You want to end it. Likewise The Art of War. That is why The Art of War can be spiritual -- the way Sun Tzu always intended it. Thank you for your thoughts TBB ... and in fact awaiting for a reply from you! Sincerely, Thomas
How can a beluga be a nerd? :-) Thanks for connecting with me. If you're into philosophy and history, you probably heard of Sun Tzu's The Art of War. I have a new book out that's on the subject. Please check out my author profile. Sincerely, Thomas
