About meI am 22 and Wiccan (Blue Star). I hold a B.A. in English literature with a minor in biology. I am interested in many facets of the occult, alternative and mainstream religion.
About my libraryThis is my personal collection of books directly related to Wicca and other forms of Neo-Paganism. I did not include books of mythology or works that do not directly relate to modern Pagan practices (for example, Robert Grave's "The White Goddess" is included but Homer's "Illiad" or the Prose Edda is not). Historical accounts of paganism (small p intentional) or witchcraft are included only if they relate directly to modern paths or are authored by scholars who also write about Neo-Paganism (eg. all of Ronald Hutton's work on European paganism is included, but nothing on the witchcraft trials in Salem). No works of fiction are included. Some have been researched so poorly that they may as well be categorized under "fiction," but they are included as nonfiction regardless. Also not included are books related to Hoodoo, Santeria, Satanism, the Golden Dawn, Aleister Crowley, American Indian religions, astrology, tarot, non-magical herb books, or other occult paths and secret societies or annuals such as the Witches' Almanac.
Please be aware that my owning a book does not mean that I endorse it. If you have specific questions regarding my opinions on certain titles, plese contact me. My personal collection also does not represent all of the books that I have read on the subject, just the ones that I own.
And my tags suck. I already know. It's really difficult categorizing some of these and many don't fit perfectly into the category in which I placed them. I tried to base my decision less on what I personally think and more on what the author was intending and how the book was received when it was published. For example, The Golden Bough and When God was a Woman were meant as honest-to-god historical works, even though both are pretty silly from our modern view, hence their categorization. I'm not engaging in the "what constitutes real Wicca" debate over people like D.J. Conway and Silver RavenWolf and I was very uncomfortable putting Raymond Buckland in "Academic and Historical," but I'm trying to be fair. And I still have no idea what to do with Ted Andrews. So, do the best you can.
