About meMost relevant to LibraryThing is that I started the Booker Tea Reading Group, a book club, in 1997 in Washington, D.C. I am in Berlin, Germany now, but the Washington group and its Berlin sister chapter are going strong. I also enjoy live music, all kinds of cuisines and a fairly active social life (for which I am most grateful to my wonderful book group for introducing such great people into my life).
About my libraryBecause of the book group, I mostly read world literature and political nonfiction.

If you don´t understand german very well (but my english isn´t very well, too): sorry for my late reply (its about your message from Aug 21, 2009 ;) I can´t help you, I only own the german edition, too. I wish you a good day.

sorry for the late reply. I was quite busy and didn't check my messages here. Unfortunately I don't have the English translation either. It is too bad Genazino's work isn't that widely available in translation.
If you are interested in something different, try "The Sleepwalkers" by the Austrian author Hermman Broch.
Kind regards from Newfoundland,
Pia

I'm sorry......I only have the german edition. It is a great book - like all the others from Genazino.
Good luck!

Sabine

Your mail prompted me to read the book again and once more I find myself completely taken up with the Shoe-Tester. Its a remarkable little book
all the best, Tom

I regret I value my copy of The Shoetester too highly to let it out of my hands!

sounds like nice project you have started. Unfortunately - its the same case as with birder4106: I don't own the book, only borrorowed it - like I did with most books in recent years. Hope your Reading Group continues nonetheless. Have lots of (reading) fun!

Unfortunately I can't help you. I do not own the Book. I have borrowed it from my library. As you can see in my libray and/or my profile most of my read books are out of publik libraries.
Best wishes

I wish I could help you out, but I gave "The Shoe Tester of Frankfurt" away some time ago through Bookmooch.com.
Good luck finding more copies!

I really would have liked to help you out but I can only offer the german edition of the Genazino novel.
Cheers,
kaixo.

Was wondering if you'd be interested in reviewing my new novel and posting your comments here as well as a few other book-related sites. Saw you liked Butcher Boy, and I thought you might like my novel since it's also about a disturbed adolescent and a bit dark. I could e-mail you the novel in an e-book format if you'd like. Let me know if you're interested. Here's a link to a summary in case you're interested:
