About meAs an advanced degree in Germanic languages wouldn't get me a job, I work as a software engineer in text analysis. I have a well-worn passport as a foreign language freak, competition photographer, and genealogist. I'd rather not be reading technical books--give me fiction and memoirs by women; history, culture, anthropology, and geneatology! I try to keep reading light fiction and memoirs written in languages that I learned in college--German, French, Dutch, and Spanish--but it gets harder every year to find the time.
About my libraryMy library catalog here is virtual; in addition to what I've got in the house, it includes some of the stuff that I enjoyed but couldn't keep for lack of space. And it's not all here yet!

Greetings from another Maeve Binchy fan. I love her older books, tho Tara Road was really good, too. I see she has a new one on the best seller list. I'll wait a bit & get a used copy. I have Night of Rain & Stars, but haven't read it yet. I've heard Rosamund Pilcher writes like Maeve, but except for the Shell Seekers, Maeve is MUCH better. do you think so?
