About meI lovvvvvvvve to read. Obviously, since I joined this site! I love animals, and spending time with my family. I like writing my own story ideas down, although few stories have been created as a result. I like to paint and draw as well, although I do it more for fun not because I have a knack for it.
About my libraryIn my library you will mostly see paranormal/fantasy/sci-fi/paranormal romance/ and a few graphic novels.

It's bemusing that the pirate version is mentioned almost nowhere in the whole introduction of the book. The book is called Fitcher's Brides if you're interested, by Gregory Frost. Though there's also a short story retelling by Angela Carter called The Bloody Chamber. It's collected in an anthology of the same name.
It... is not showcasing the best of his abilities if he's better than he portrays there. It's supposed to be a horror book, but it's deathly boring and not at all scary. I hope you'll enjoy the book you picked up as much as the books that introduced you to him!
Different people have different problems, though, but in all cases it's a matter of practice, practice, practice. Which is hard. Personally, I'm a freewriter and usually have only a broad idea (if that) about where a piece is going. It's one of the reasons why I like revising and rewriting. I actually know what the story will throw at me. Do you have clear ideas of how the stories start and end or just broad lines? I tend to know only the broad lines of a story. Everytime I try to map it down, it changes. But it can actually help to solidify the plot. If nothing else you'll have a whole map of ideas to play with that won't be so likely to go away.
I'm afraid I have no idea what the book is about... ^-^; I haven't read it yet. It's just one of the books that keeps popping up around the fairytale retellings I've read. What've you been reading lately?

I love the photo of Scout. She's such a gorgeous thing. There's something about multicoloured (calico, no?) cats that's so very attractive... I mean, look at Cow's markings... They're so wonderfully symmetrical. You'll have to forgive me for not commenting on each photo individually, though... ^-^; Zelda is gorgeous. Fuzzy reminds me of Krumel, but leaner. Krumel passed away now, but he was a beautiful example of what 'man's best friend' means, for all that he was a cat. Scout and Zelda are my favourites of your kitties, I think. They're all gorgeous, but those are the two that stand out to me. I don't know why. Give them all a big hug from me!
I first 'met' them at a new convention intended especially for pets (you're even allowed to take them with you into the building) and was just struck by their beauty and playfulness.
I can quite understand! I have to admit, I can see where people would be coming from, but if you can give them all the love and care they need, people should just hush. And I hear you on the vet-situation! (Actually, I probably wouldn't be a good vet. I'd take deaths too personal.)
I'm glad to hear you liked it! All fairytales are darker than they tend to be told, but some, like Allerleirauh and variants, are a lot darker. It's probably why they don't get retold so often. (I mean, look at what Disney did to The Little Mermaid and that's not even a dark story, just an ending that's not Disney-perfect.) Which, thank you, I've been pondering what to pick up next and I think I'll take up the retelling of the bluebeard motif.
Barker... I think so. *looks up* Oh, yes. I read his Mister B. Gone. I was... how shall I put it... Not impressed. I take it this is a YA series you're talking about? From what you've said I might pick the series up, but he's going to have one heck of a job if he wants my opinion to increase. Ahhh... *scuffs feet* I'm afaid I'm a bit of a snob (and a hypocrit). Comes from writing a lot yourself, I think. Which, yes, I do. ^-^ I have stories to go with the characters. Yourself? I'm having a brainfritz moment in wording the impression I'm getting from your bio. I wish I could say that I was published, but I'm afraid I'm not. Well, not unless you count sharing a few pieces online. ^-~
*still looking at photobucket* Oh! I thought -- Hang on. I just noticed the cover you uploaded for one of the The Sisters Grimm books, but when you mentioned it the first time I thought you were talking about The Sisters Grimmer which is a wholly different author. ^-^;
What do you like to write about? ^-^ For me it's a mixture of things, but all of it's fantasy. Currently I'm stuck in a more urban fantasy-oriented world. It's giving me a headache and its fey refuse to be proper fey. Although I do love my Eoin. He's a sweetheart. I blame his existence entirely on my annoyance with/at Mercedes Lackey.

*cackle* That sounds like our cats to our aunt whenever she came to visit before we got Milka.
I'm sorry to hear about Tom, but at least he's been well-loved and cared for in his old age when his time comes. *offers hug* I hate the waiting. Your house sounds like a wonderful cat-place. ^-^ And who cares about being a crazy cat-lady when you've so many lovely companions around you? I'd love to have more cats than we do, but we might have space issues even without Milka taking over most of the downstairs.
Apologies for not replying to this last night, but I wanted to read about your cats at a time when I was properly awake. Only fair with the detail you've put in the comment. (My lovies if you're interested in seeing. ^-^) Although I have this oddness love for calicos and tabbies. One day, I want a Norwegian forest cat. They're so very gorgeous...
Hope you've enjoyed the fairytale! And ooooh... I'm not going to say 'no' to a more true-to-folklore fairy-story. (To differentiate it from a 'fairytale' for a moment.) So often people just glorify them and make them lose all the nasty-scary bits... I'm not entirely sure if I'm guilty of that with my own lot of fey characters, but certainly some of them are nasty, if not necessarily fey-like.

I need to catch up on Pratchett's books... At the very, very least his Discworld series, but it's slow going. I'm getting there, though! What are Augarde's books about?
Serial adding just makes absolutely no sense to me. Some seem active members, but I don't see why everything has to be a 'most friends' popularity contest for some people...
Awwww... Your dogs sound very sweet. How many cats do you have now in total? And what breed, if you know?
We've got only four and a dog. Unfortunately, they don't get along very well. Milka's a galgo, so thinks our cats are big moving toys. Three of them live upstairs now, and one lives in the computer room. She's... *sighs* She's Miyu and if cats get autism, that's her. Sweet, lovely affectionate creature, but don't even try to go away in a coat and come back inside carrying it on your arm. She bolts.
Shiroi's her brother, though he's not as skittish as she is. He's all white and gorgeous and purrs like no tomorrow and is very, very affectionate to those he knows and trusts. No idea what breed they are, but I suspect there's longhair somewhere in the line.
Then there's Genki. He's a bully and the reason Miyu lives on her own. He's a part-Siamese and I think, judging from the markings and general personality type, might be part-Bengal too. Obsessive creature. I'm his and you'd better not dare think otherwise. He has the most gorgeous blue eyes.
And lastly there's Mimi. She's a tiny thing and as much a mutt as Shiroi and Miyu. Cheeky little thing too. She keeps reminding me of a meerkat.
*ramble* Sorry... Cats...

Uhm, I should probably have warned you, I babble a lot too.
*smiles slightly sadly* I didn't think you were a serial adder, but some people have this huge connections list, no books/interests in common and not a word of explanation. Drives me mad. (Well, that and such things confuse the hell out of me when I don't know someone. At least if they answer I know they'll have cared enough to read the profile. I should maybe have added a paragraph on the obviously-not-serial adders like you explaining this. Sorry about that. ^-^; )
