I like creative nonfiction, too - I see we have some of the same books.
txpam: Did you get your SantaThing assignee? I got two, so I'm worried you didn't get one. (I didn't check until today because we've been out of town and thought I had until Friday. Eek!
Yay! You avoid reading a mediocre book. + 10 XP

I noticed that we do not share ANY books. In my quest to expand my horizons and my desire to better understand my newest librarything pal, I believe I should peruse one of your picks. What would you suggest for my first choice? Keep in mind that I'm reading 13 books for summer school and would appreciate something that doesn't require constant trips to the dictionary or google to decode the prose.
I never signed up for the emails for Early Reviewers. I just see that link at the right of the page whenever I sign in to my account. :)
No, I haven't seen June's list of books yet. They put out a "bonus" list of May books and I clicked on all of those. My theory is that the more books I receive and review - regardless of quality, the higher I'll be on the list of prospective reviewers. My logic may be off...but this practice will also broaden my horizons and get this stupid Unsuggester off my back. I looked at it the other day and all the books were SPIRITUALITY/CHRISTIAN books. As if I'm a heathen. Then I get this Gnostic Mystery book, as if the Unsuggester is in league with the Early Reviewers. LOL.
Your good intention is noted. (Though I have no way of communicating it to the Early Reviewers group.) I fear that I may be blacklisted myself, for I made the mistake (?) of clicking "Request It" on every single book. I am receiving two literary anthologies - which should be okay, and THE UNOFFICIAL GUIDE TO TWITTER - less than enthralled about that one.

The blurb on the Early Reviewers page DOES suggest that the content of your review has no bearing on your future in the group. They claim to be more concerned with the fact that there IS a review posted...so you might just go onto Davila's page and write "I couldn't get past page 8...the dialogue was crap...the plot was nonexistent...etc." Or you could just post song lyrics that describe your mental/emotional state as a result of reading the bit you did get through (that's what all the EMO kids are doing these days, after all).
She's actually a REFERENCE librarian up in Kokomo, Indiana. Beautiful library with a faux climbing tree in the middle for kids to play on and sit under to read their books. The libraries here in Woodstock, GEORGIA, pale in comparison.

I wish you luck on the job search. It's a tough world out there.
Noticed that you're giving away your copy of THE GNOSTIC MYSTERY. I also received that book as part of the Early Reviewers group and got a little chuckle at your situation. I forced myself to read the novel, so I could fulfill my end of the bargain; however, it was tedious. I feel your pain. I wish you better luck with the next batch of books. :)
Sorry to hear that - it's certainly a tough time for corporate libraries right now. I hope you enjoy the academic sector though. Possibly a bit safer in the current climate?
Hi - I'm in a technical library. Specifically computing (as you might have guessed from some of the dull stuff I've got listed on here!). How about you? Are you public, academic or special?
