About meRetired. Love to read, write - blog, create websites, play guitar, listen to music, among other things. My site is dedicated to 1937 Original Flint Michigan UAW GM Sit-downer Ralph Lockhart. In the profile photo, from the left-hand side of the picture, he is to the immediate right of the man with the hat and coat. Ralph has his right hand up in celebration with his fellow sitdown strikers after hearing the news that General Motors had finally recognized the UAW as the sole bargaining representative for the workers after a grueling 44 day sitdown - stay-in strike. Ralph passed away on July 25, 2006 at 92 years old. God Bless him and his wife Mildred and their family.

About my libraryAs my shelf will always be under construction (Web 1.0 word), I will be adding new selections. Labor history, especially UAW history, has always been a favorite since I was born and raised in Flint, Michigan, birthplace of General Motors(worked there, UAW member) and the city where the Great Flint Sit-down Strike of 1936-37 occurred. I recommend The Many and The Few, A Chronicle of the Dynamic Auto Workers by Henry Kraus as a great starting point if you are interested in learning about the 1937 Sitdown. I also enjoy reading about General Motors history and My Years With General Motors by Alfred P. Sloan, Jr.is a great autobiography of his leadership at the helm of GM for 23 years. Labor and Capital, and their ever evolving relationship and history. Never a dull moment and always a good read.
More communication, internet history, World Wide Web, Web 2.0, leadership, autobiographies (great inventors, visionaries, thinkers...etc., and stories about everyday working people like you and I, the folks who built America, creating the greatest nation in the world. We are Number One!) and whatever else I find will be added to this short list and it will slowly become more diversified as this shelf evolves into the future. Thank you to Library Thing for the opportunity. You are truly Web 2.0!
