Cool to find another "Owly" reader. My brother gave them to me for Christmas --- he knows I'm an absolute nut for anything to do with owls. He even got me the stuffed Owly, complete with Wormy on top!
Hi Uilos,

I got the following reply from Emily Buehler, the author of Bread Science. I thought you'd like it.

--Brian

I'm so glad to hear about the book from corolla--that was the result of an early marketing campaign idea, to get it in locally owned bookstores. I was in DC and had driven to the beach for one night--i spent all of saturday in traffic--literally all day to get to Duck--so i had a few minutes on the beach saturday night, and then the friends were leaving on sunday.

So i ended up driving to the local bookstores and leaving info for the owners. Two of them ended up ordering a few copies, and one was really not nice, and it ended up just not feeling like a very good trip. After another trip to the sw part of the state, i realized that it was not an effective use of time, that even if they agreed to carry it, they wouldn't think to re-order it, that it doesn't sell very quickly from traditional bookstores. So i decided to focus on other marketing ideas, and by now the whole "marketing campaign" has become very slow and back burner.

a few months ago i found the person who bought one of the mountain bookstore copies, and it made me glad i had gone on that trip. so now i feel like the corolla book's mission has been fulfilled.

I checked and I am unable to comment unless i join.
My initial reaction was, I don't want to join something else! But maybe I will. I'd like to tell the person that I'm really just a person and "Two Blue Books" is just me, or that i'm glad to hear of them, or something. If you are on "Library thing" again, feel free to let them know.
I'm just wondering how you came across Bread Science? You're the only other person who has it in their library. I have it because I enjoy making bread (although I don't do it enough)... and the author is a friend of mine!
