About meI'm a writer and crazed book-obsessed loon. My first novel is a YA fantasy called Racing the Dark. It's about a young girl in an island world who is apprenticed to a witch and casts a dark spell in order to save her mother's life. You can read the first three chapters on my website (www.alayadawnjohnson.com). I put up reviews of the YA novels I read on my blog pretty regularly, but copy most of them over here also.

The Lymond Chronicles by Dorothy Dunnett is my favorite series of all time and Guy Gavriel Kay is one of my favorite writers (I find it impossible to have a *single* favorite writer, but he's damn close).
