About meI'm an erstwhile history and politics student, with a particular interest in Russia, Germany and political philosophy. Most of the books here reflect that.

My current job also involves research into Singapore politics and society - once again, that explains the proportion of books devoted to the subject!

On the side, I enjoy reading about gender and sexuality, especially works on feminism and sado-masochism.

As for fiction, my great loves are Graham Greene and George Eliot. Russian literature has always fascinated me, though anything sufficiently bleak, lyrical and tortured - or brimming with off-colour humour - usually gets my vote.

I have a weakness for detective novels (especially of the hard-boiled variety) and am quite an enthusiastic, if unschooled, Sherlockian.

I used to be keen on White Wolf RPGs such as Vampire: the Masquerade. My guilty pleasures now are vintage style, greyhounds and horseback riding.

About my libraryDue to space and financial considerations, I prefer to take books out of the library rather than buy them outright. Many of my books are therefore "read but unowned".
