About meI'm 25 and a librarian in Oxford. I have a blog at http://cardigangirlverity.blogspot.com

About my libraryI have been collecting books for 25 years, although I've had a few minor clearouts. I put my books on librarything back in 2007, and the collection has grown. Predominantly fiction, including quite a lot of children's books, (both from when I was young, and a couple of years ago when I set out to collect the Chalet School series), but also history (did a history degree) and some other random books reflecting some of my interests (although, interestingly, I have nothing about brass bands!).
Unfortunately, my library isn't a great guide to what I read: I read huge numbers of books (last year I read 300 non college related books), and rely on my public library to provide these, as I can't afford to keep up with myself. (Plus, I regularly run out of bookshelves!)

Hello Verity, Thanks for inviting me to be once of your LibraryThing connections. I've just been reading a review of "The Case for Books" by Robert Darnton, the director of the library at Harvard, that may be of interest to you:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2009/nov...
In it he speculates on the likely future of the book in the digital age. You'll be pleased to hear that he thinks the printed book does have a future.
Verity, Oh good. I am glad it arrived so quickly. I do hope you enjoy it. I still haven't tracked down the film adaptation yet. Maren
Hi Verity.
I share your fondness for children books (beside Viragos), and I have been trying to collect them though the years, especially old editions.
I have one of the Chalet Schools on my Amazon wish list, but did not get to order it yet. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Paola :-))
I love your library! We share all the best books; and the ones we don't share, I want to borrow from you.
