About me I've been an insatiable (obsessed) reader since I was six. That is a very long time ago...4 decades or so. "Get your nose outa that book..." was my Mum's most frequently uttered statement. In her defense, I might have gone without eating (certainly without doing any chores or even sleeping) if allowed to. I confess, books are my first love and a persistent one (sorry to my husband of 24 years who has often been ignored for long periods of time while I make my way through a 7 book series!). It was Tolkien that hooked me on fantasy since first reading his epic in the early 70's. Loved it then, love it now. Over the years I've been awed and amazed to tears by the talent, creativity and incredible imagination of many other fantasy writers (and SF)(and poetry)(and photography) (and quantum physics)(and...etc.)

About my library Too many books - ah! There are only a fraction of them listed here now. It is interesting to see how many we all have in common, and which ones NOBODY has! It's bazzar to think that there may be someone out there who has a shockingly similar collection...its a big world, surely there must be someone, somewhere who has tastes as crazy as mine.

Iris,
I do hope you enjoy the Outlander series! The time travel was exactly the thing that got me interested in it as weel, but I just fell in love with the whole idea of the story. Not to mention a cute red haired Scottish lad named Jamie. It really is the greatest love story I have ever read. I am going to start a reread of the first 6 books because the next book is due out in 2009. By the way, if you are on Myspace look up Outlander Fans...that's me! There's 900 members so far and we are always looking for fans!
Peace!

Thank you for the comments on my Sacred Commerce review! I noticed when I got the final copy, they'd cleaned up a LOT of stuff (like the back cover testimonials), but not really enough to make it a worthwhile book. Adorable pooch! Looks like we have a lot in common :-)
love the dog.
Hi Iris,

Oh; why are you so busy? Or is it just the usual - having 'to work to make a living'? Hmm, there's a dreadful song with that...

I know how you feel somewhat - I kept looking at your message and wanting to reply, but I wanted to have enough time to pen something (?) properly, and the two didn't mix! So,I have made myself a nice cup of tea, and given myself time to do so tonight. I have had a busy time lately too - so the time flies, but I don't get to do all the things I would like to - now, can't you relate, or what? Eh wot, as Bertie Wooster says (P. G. Wodehouse).

From reading the other comments on your page, I have to concur with MDLady - the Diana Gabaldon books are a wonderful escape. I am also anticipating eagerly the The Lord John spin off series - I am waiting for the last two to be published in a size I can carry (!) - which she has recently written. Though the first one appeared quite a while ago. They would be great as a change from the usual fantasy fare. I confess I haven't read the last two in the main series because I need to re-read the whole lot. I read them so long ago I have forgotten a lot of details that I am sure will add to the enjoyment of the rest; and I don't have a spare year yet for this. :) They are, after all, quite thick!!!

I see you are reading a Zindell book from a series I have too - do you like it? Every time I consider these I find another one in the series; in fact there is one just out in paperback, but I am not sure if that is the last. They look a good one, so to speak.

I am reading a 900+ page tome at the moment - at times quite hard going, as it is so complex that is does not lend itself to quick snatches of reading. But I am intrigued and compelled to continue; I have set myself a goal to finish it by the end of the month. Hopefully. Otherwise I will have to interject another book for my sanity - hehe.

So nice to hear from you - but please don't worry if you take the time necessary to reply; I pop into your page every now and again to check out your latest, and keep in touch that way. And see what you are up to - or if you have turned into a gorgeous canine!! Are you re-reading The Fugitive Prince? That is another series I want to begin all over again - what fun!!

Take care, and stay cool. I hear it is very hot on that side. I wish I could send some of our cool air your way, I think it is much easier to get warm than to cool down! Happy Solstice - at least it is now mid-summer and my favourite season, autumn, is on the way to you. Here, in mid-winter, it is becoming quite cold. Brrr. Great for staying in, and reading.

Iris,
Girl you are in for a great ride! It is by far the greatest love story I have ever read. Ok ok, I don't read love stories, but man am I glad I read this one! Book 2 for me was the hardest to follow because of all the political stuff and who's who...but it still was a great book. Book 6 is my favorite so far.
You have to get caught up because the new book is due out in 2009!
Enjoy!!!!
Here's hoping! I have a lot of time on my hands, so reading is certainly a good use of that time. :) I'll put a link on my profile to my thread in the challenge group, which will have all the books I read!

Cheers for your interest...it's lovely.

Hugs, K
