When I was young, I wrote: "We must love one another or die." With age, I recognized the falsehood of this, and wrote: "We must love one another and die."
About my libraryHas been reconstructed using such sources as the Harry Ransom Center special collections at the University of Texas at Austin. In 1972, one year before I passed into thoughtless heaven, I sold most of my books in preparation for my removal to Oxford, where I had been offered a place to live by unanimous vote of the Governing Body at Christ Church. What remained of my library were those books that I couldn't bring myself to turn over to the bookseller. That is the collection that you will find cataloged here.
