Just checked out your library and was quite pleased, and surprised, to see that there is a Clark Ashton Smith series out in hardback. Ordered myself the first three volumes. Good stuff.
Thanks for the comment, looked at your library; Wow, you don't see that much Dunsany everyday. I had a nice old illustrated copy of "The Book of Wonder" and made the mistake of lending it out. I never saw the book again...sigh. The Guttenberg Project has made it available to everyone at least. But without the lovely illustrations...sigh. Keep in touch...
Reading Richard Lupoff's Burroughs biography at the moment. I can't think of any writer as *readable* as Burroughs. I remember as a teenager reading 'Swords Of Mars' - one of the longer if not the longest Mars novel - in one sitting one rainy afternoon. For sheer action-packed directness even Robert E Howard can't match ERB.
Yes! Zardoz rules. ;)
thanks for thinking that my library is interesting. I haven't read the Tripod books since I got them as a kid, but I'm sure I'll re-read them sometime.
Hello,
I have just spotted that you have added my Library to your list of 'Interesting libraries',for which many thanks. It is always gratifying when a member of Librarything does this as it shows that my library has been found useful and er interesting. Wells,Lovecraft,Rice Borroughs and Tolkien which I see on your 'favorite authors' are also amongst mine.
When I have a little more time to look at your list in detail, perhaps we could discuss other authors which each could recommend to the other.
I did see that on the Cthulhu Mythos talk site we both quoted a different title as the best Lovecraft tale, which is what it is all about and all to the good.If we all agreed on everything, what a very dull world it would be.
Anyway,keep in touch.
Best wishes.
Thanks for the kind words about my dog. She is the smartest and by far the best dog I've ever had.
