Hi there. Kafka on the Shore stands out for having very unique characters that are completely different from those in the rest of his novels. I don't know how much Murakami you've read, but I've read almost all the novels, and I find that the characters (especially the main character) of his stories are pretty much the same. Except Kafka, which is why I love it so much.
