Series description

A series of reprints by Rupert Hart-Davis Ltd of classic nautical books, mainly accounts of cruises. No's 1-46 were issued between 1947 and 1959. Arthur Ransome wrote introductions for seven of the series, and acted, according to Rupert Hart-Davis, as "godfather and nanny" to every volume in the series.

No's 47-48 were added when the series was re-issued with new dust jackets in the 1960s.
